Makaibari Estate is considered one of the finest Darjeeling gardens and has full Fair Trade and Organic status. The garden produces a small quantity of fine Oolong tea. Oolong is a semi-fermented tea which goes through a special process to produce a delicious subtle flavour and aroma. Unlike Taiwanese Oolong's toasty flavour, this tea has lemony and slightly peachy tones.
Oolong teas contain powerful antioxidants that are known to help break down hardened arteries thus helping to prevent coronary heart disease. It is also thought to help lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
Brewing instruction: Use 1tsp per cup and place in a tea pot or infuser. Boil the kettle and let rest for 30 seconds. Pour over leaves and infuse for 3 to 5 minutes. Best without milk. Can be re-infused.
